These days more and more people are opting to stay in the United Kingdom when it comes to their family holidays. There are numerous reason for this, but one main ones is financial. The exchange rate between the British pound and the Euro is not favourable for Britains’ travelling abroad, and this can also be said of the American dollar too. On top of this, transport to other countries is also starting to become a little bit more expensive too because the rising cost of fuel is impacting on air and ferry fares. With all of this considered, there is more reason than ever to stay in the United Kingdom for our holidays, and this can only be a good thing. It of course helps the national economy to keep the money in our own country, and as well as that, it is refreshing to see British people rediscovering their own land.
One such place which has soared in popularity in recent times is the Lake District. The Lakes are one of the most naturally beautiful places in England, and some would argue, the world. You will see the largest mountains in England, the longest lakes, and some of the most breathtaking scenery that you are ever likely to see.
As you would imagine in a place as beautiful as this with a once again blossoming tourism industry, there are many lake district Cottages available to rent. You will find all sorts of different houses, but one thing is for sure, you will want to be in pleasant surroundings as you head back from a challenging walk up Scarfeld Pike!
